THE new head of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) has put up a challenge to her 11 station chiefs, urging them to show good performance in their campaign against illegal drugs by confiscating P1 billion worth of narcotics in the remaining five months of 2019.
Following the drug bust conducted by the Guadalupe Police Station that led to the seizure of P9 million worth of shabu, CCPO Director Gemma Vinluan challenged her station commanders to step up their game against the drug personalities in the city.
Vinluan, who assumed the post only last week, told reporters she would not hesitate to relieve police chiefs within her jurisdiction if they failed to conduct non-stop operations against pushers in their respective areas.
The police official said she would rather appoint lower ranking police officials to head the city’s stations if they could show good performance.
To keep her station commanders and heads of special units always on their toes, Vinluan has required them to confiscate at least five kilograms of shabu every year.
“Actually, our targets serve as our goals for this year. Whether we like it or not, at least we have goals that need to be accomplished,” Vinluan said in Tagalog.
During the time of Vinluan’s predecessor and now retired police official Royina Garma, the CCPO was able to confiscate P700 million worth of illegal drugs in her two-year stint as the CCPO chief. (From AYB of SuperBalita Cebu, JKV)
