8IB change of ranks marks renewed vows

IMPASUGONG, Bukidnon -- The 8th Infantry Battalion (8IB) handed over the new command of the Bravo Company to 1st Lieutenant Carlee Pablo replacing the outgoing commander Lieutenant Francis Vinuya at 8th IB Headquarters, Impasugong, Bukidnon on July 17, prompting a more resolved promise in winning the insurgency in their area.

The highlight of the activity was the symbolic turnover of unit color from the outgoing commander to the incoming presided by Lieutenant Colonel Ronald Illana, the 8th Infantry Battalion Commanding Officer. This is the symbol that authority and responsibility was formally transferred to the newly seated company commander.

“I thanked all of you for the unending support, we’ve faced so many challenges during my stint but still we stand and fight” Vinuya said. “I was also thankful that we did not lose any lives for the past two years,” he said.

Bravo Company, 8IB was among the three companies controlled under the 8th Infantry “Dependable” Battalion and it was considered as the best company due to its numerous achievements. The past two years showed its heroism and stability for its numerous encounters against the sub-regional Committee 1 of North Central Mindanao Regional Command.

One greatest achievement recorded by the company was the firefight on April 2018 against forty NPA-Terrorists that led to the rescue of a five-month pregnant NPA fighter and recovery of several high powered firearms. The pregnant enemy was taken care of by the army troopers and later evacuated to the military hospital for medication. Officer and troops involved in the successful operation was awarded by the Headquarters Philippine Army.

In his assumption speech Pablo said: “as your new commanding officer, I am very thankful for the trust and confidence bestowed by the Command. Again we will continue to accomplish the mission that we’ve been tasked of.”

Illana for his part expressed his profound gratitude to Lt. Vinuya for leading the Bravo Company with excellence and adaptive to organizational change. He also urged the personnel of Bravo Company to extend the same cooperation and team work to their new commanding officer. He is very optimistic that Lt. Pablo will be a good and reliable company commander.
