Officer commended for bagging best jail warden award

THE Bacolod City Council approved a resolution congratulating Jail Senior Inspector Norberto Miciano Jr., warden of Metro Bacolod District Jail-Male Dormitory Annex in Barangay Handumanan, for being named as the 2019 Best District Jail Warden in the Philippines.

The resolution, authored by Councilor Simplicia Distrito, chairperson of the City Council committee on human resources and development, was approved during the regular session on Wednesday, July 17.

Distrito said on July 12, President Rodrigo Duterte awarded Miciano as the 2019 Best District Jail Warden in the Philippines during the 28th Celebration of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) held at the AFP Theater in Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City.

She said the award recognized the extraordinary achievement of Miciano in becoming the best Jail Warden.

“There are hundreds of jail wardens in the Philippines but he was chosen as the best among them,” she added.

Distrito noted that Miciano, for his initiatives and programs done in the BJMP Jail in Handumanan, was recommended by the regional office to be nominated to receive the award.

Distrito said the City Government of Bacolod is honored by the recognition received by Miciano considering that such recognition is an inspiration not just for the employees of the BJMP in the City, but for all public employees.
