Drug suspect killed; P500k shabu seized

A DRUG suspect was killed while half a million pesos worth of suspected illegal drugs was seized in a separate anti-illegal drug operations in Lanao del Norte and Cagayan de Oro City Friday, July 19.

Members of the Lanao del Norte Provincial Police Office killed Bernie Perez after he allegedly fought back against the authorities during a drug bust in Barangay Simpak, Lala town.

Investigators said the suspect drew his gun first and fired it towards the operatives, forcing the authorities to return fire.

The suspect sustained gunshot wounds on his body and was brought to the hospital but he was declared dead on arrival.

Police recovered the suspect's .38 caliber revolver, fired cartridges from 9mm pistol and 38 caliber revolver after the exchange of fire and four sachets of suspected shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride). It can be noted that previous reports of similar anti-illegal drug operations that involved a suspect being killed because they fought back the police also carried a .38 revolver.

Meanwhile, in a separate operations, officers from Police Station 3 confiscated around P500,000 worth of suspected shabu from a couple identified as Adener Fabricante and Recilyn Gonzaga in another drug bust in Lapasan.
