Marapara Rotary welcomes new president

KEVAN Broad, a retired Australian naval officer now residing in Talisay City, is the new president of the Rotary Club of Bacolod Marapara. He takes over from Dr. James Bilbao.

Dr. Bilbao welcomed members and guests at the club's 27th Induction and Turnover Ceremonies, held recently at the Sugarland Hotel. The new officers for Rotary Year 2019-2020 were inducted by District Governor Elect, Louie Gonzaga.

Incoming president Kevan Broad thanked Dr. Bilbao for his strong leadership of the club for the past 12 months which saw numerous notable outreach programmes including medical missions and support for several local schools. He added that Dr. Bilbao would be a hard act to follow.

Mr. Broad will also be supported by vice president Trixie Villavicencio in the coming year, past president Ed Cuansing as secretary, Boy Cuenca as treasurer and Lani Ferrer as assistant treasurer.

The club also inducted two new members - British national Pete Lewis and Negrense Jeremy Torres. New presidents and officers of the Interact Club of Marapara and the Rotaract Club of Marapara were also inducted.

Past district governor Phil Abello was the inducting officer of the Rotaract Club of Marapara, past district governor Jundad Legislador was the inducting officer of the Interact Club of Marapara and Dr. Ed Ordonez, past president of the Rotary Club of Bacolod North, was the charging officer.

Guest speaker at the ceremonies was Dr. Ana Maria Villanueva-Salacata, who spoke about the advantages of organic gardening. (PR)
