Bounty on heads of Negros cop killers now P1.3M

PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte on Monday, July 22, offered an additional P300,000 on top of the P1-million reward money for anyone who could bring him the heads of the killers of four junior police officers in Negros Oriental.

"Mas gusto kong patay sila. Kung patay sila, mag-dagdag pa ako ng P300,[000]. So it's [P1,300,000] (I want them dead. If they are dead, I will give P300,000 additional reward. So it's P1,300,000). Just bring me the head of that idiot leader there," he added.

The four officers were killed in an ambush by suspected New People Army's fighters in Ayungon town in Negros Oriental on July 18.

The slain cops were identified as Corporal Relebert Beronio and Patrolmen Raffy Callao, Roel Cabellon, and Marquino de Leon.

Duterte, who visited the wake of the officers on Sunday, conferred on the slain police officers the Order of Lapu-Lapu, Kalasag Rank.

The Kalasag Medal is awarded to government workers and private individuaos who lost their lives as a direct result of their participation in Duterte's campaign or advocacy.

The four junior officers belonged to the 704 Mobile Force Company of the 7th Regional Mobile Force Battalion (RMFB).

In a statement, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said the "terrorists also looted the dead of their firearms, valuables and personal belongings, and drove off with the victims' motorcycles." (Ruth Abbey Gita/SunStar Philippines)
