P75-M collectibles from erring employers

A TOTAL of 3,283 employers in Davao City have not remitted their employee’s contributions as prescribed under the Republic Act 11199 or Social Security Act of 2018 with an estimated P75 million expected collectibles from unpaid premium remittances.

Speaking during the Kapehan sa Dabaw at SM City Annex, Social Security System (SSS) Mindanao South 1 Division officer-in-charge Director Head Rizalito Alberto De Leon said that in Davao City, there are almost 11,000 employers who have SSS benefits but 30 percent of these are delinquents.

Thus, de Leon urged the employers to avail the Contribution Penalty Condonation (CPC) or an amnesty program which will only run until September 1 this year to settle their unremitted employees’ contributions.

“I hope that our SSS employers will avail of this program,” he said.

De Leon said that some employers do not follow their schedule of remittances which cause the delay. He added that the SSS did not fall short in reminding them of their contributions. They are sending them an electronic statement of account through their email, regular mails, and actual visitation by account officer to their addresses.

As of June 30, SSS have filed 78 cases against delinquent employers.

These 78 cases are at the prosecutor’s office plus nine cases in the court most of these are due to non-remittance but there are also cases of non-reporting and non-registration.

“SSS is here and is true to its mandate na dapat ang premium must be paid kung hindi kayo nakapagbayad ng contributions ninyo, your employees will suffer and if the employees will file a complaint with us, surely, the SSS will be going after these delinquent employees,” De Leon said.

Meanwhile, he also encouraged employees to visit their office and check their accounts to ensure that their employers are remitting their contributions.
