City to transfer over 100 stall owners affected by clearing ops

THE Cebu City Government has prepared a relocation site for more than 100 vendors as their stalls in the Carbon market complex have encroached on portions of the road, blocking the flow of traffic and endangering the safety of pedestrians.

Market Administrator Jonil Matuguina said his office is following the policy of Mayor Edgardo Labella, who promised not to demolish the vendors’ stalls unless there is an available relocaton site for them.

The relocation site is near ML Quezon Street in Barangay Ermita where more than 200 illegal structures were discovered by the City.

Matuguina said his office would relocate only more than 100 vendors as their other stalls were used by them as storage of their goods.

To avoid a muddy relocation site during downpours, the personnel of Market Operation Division, Probe (Prevention, Restoration, Order, Beautification, Enhancement) and Department of Public Services will place gravel on Tuesday morning, July 23, 2019. (from PAC of SuperBalita Cebu/KAL)
