Davao tourism office foresees increase in Cebuano tourists

DAVAO City Tourism Operations Office (CTOO) head Generose Tecson said there might be an increase of tourists coming from Cebu City during the Kadayawan Festival.

Tecson expects the increase in the number of tourists after Davao City participated for the first time in Cebu's travel fair event last week.

"The fair is an activity which Cebu normally holds every year and since maganda ang timing niya for Kadayawan, so for the first time, nag-participate tayo," Tecson said.

"We had a very good response there kasi hindi naman lahat nakakaalam about Kadayawan. Tuwang-tuwa ang mga tao sa Cebu," she added.

Tecson also said there have been a number of queries about the event from foreign tourists during the fair in Cebu City, especially from Koreans.

To further promote Kadayawan season, the CTOO, through its festival committee, will start decorating Francisco Bangoy International Airport next week as soon as the budget will be allocated.

"We have been doing this always. Syempre ang first impression ng tao of a certain place is the airport so it falls upn us to help decorate the airport for our own purpose," Tecson said.

The decoration of the airport will be Kadayawan-inspired to encourage tourists to visit the city during the event.

There will also be tribal dancers and singers to perform during the weekends inside the airport.
