COUNCILOR Alan Zaldivar will continue the city-wide clean-up and anti-dengue campaign.

In his privilege speech during the regular session on Tuesday, July 23 at the Iloilo City Hall, Zaldivar stressed the significance of the activity that will help boost the community in the fight against dengue.

“The city-wide clean-up and the anti-dengue campaign did not hinder instead it will endure until its purpose is realized,” he added.

As a chairman of committee on health, sanitation and hospital services, he advised the people to be “vigilant and be empowered individually.”

“Making external forces unnecessary to protect and defend themselves from ill-effects of this dengue outbreak,” he said.

On Monday, July 22, the Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas issued an order to declare dengue outbreak.

Zaldivar said that during the meeting with the hospitals in the city before the launching of his campaign, they pointed out the lack of empowerment and congested hospitals and the barangay health centers must be utilized “even just for monitoring purposes.”

“Some of them also offered to give up discounts to those patients,” he said.

The councilor added that he will continue trending activities and consistent programs pertaining to health awareness.

“We do not only suppress this dengue outbreak but we can also promote and improve health awareness and services towards the people for our beloved Iloilo City,” Zaldivar said. (Carolyn Jane Abello)
