Boss mode! New chicken wings place offers playful alternatives

“BOSS, manok (chicken)!”

This is what locals usually say when calling out to a server, ordering for more chicken. In Cebu, the term “boss” is not exclusive for office settings. Customers usually call out to those working, using the term, with respect to the hard tasks the latter have to go through.

This is how Cebu’s first and only interactive unlimited chicken wings place was inspired for its name, besides the other fact that one of the owners goes by the nickname “Manok.”

On the busy Salinas Drive, Lahug, Cebu City, there’s a “mafia headquarters” called Boss Manok, the boss of all chicken wings. This newest chicken wings place’s interiors are inspired by the movie, “The Godfather.” The 120-square-meter space combines the aspects of an industrial style design with modern sleekness—black-framed glass windows, plumbing pipe light fixture and exposed brick walls decorated with black and white typographic prints of “The Godfather” quotes.

And for fun: “I’ll make him an offer he can’t refuse?” More like, “I’ll make him a chicken he can’t refuse.” There’s more of those kind of quotes.

The 50-seater food place not only offers unlimited chicken wings but also an a la carte menu to accommodate all of those who want to fill themselves with not only chicken wings but other dishes as well such as aglio e olio pasta, classic pork sisig, classic nachos, to name a few.

Boss Manok also allows its customers to mix and match, dip or drizzle with its eight signature rich sauces: Country Gravy, Lemon Pepper, Cheesy Bacon, Barbecue, Teriyaki, Spicy Korean, Sriracha Butter and Classic Buffalo. With this kind of freedom, one can come up with his or her own signature sauce.

Aside from the usual rules in every unlimited chicken wings shop like “strictly no sharing,” “leftovers will be charged P20 per piece,” “children below five years old dine for free and children six to 10 years old pay half,” Boss Manok has its own rule which allows people with autism to eat for free as the owners are autism advocates.

Boss Manok is open every day from 11 a.m. until 12 midnight.
