Gacad: Fight of the year

IT WAS indeed a thriller. Except for that highly controversial 113-114 score from one of the judges, the Pacquiao-Thurman fight was clearly a unanimous decision that was reflected in the two other scorecards of 115-112. When the ring announcer started with a split decision announcement, I am sure many, like me, were worried. I even told myself, “patay, na-mafia na yata.” Then came the announcement: 113-114 Thurman, then 115-112 Pacquiao. When the third score was read as 115-112, I knew then that it was going to be a Pacman victory. Another great fight - a contender for fight of the year. Congratulations Senator Manny Pacquiao for this inspiring victory.

They say that true champions are those that accept defeat with an open mind and a humble heart. Even with the loss, Keith Thurman proved that he is a winner. He did not mince words to accept the result of the bout and gave credit where and to whom credit is due. I am sure that if he learns to keep his mouth shut and, just like what Manny said, let his hands do the talking, he will make a name for himself in the next few years and be a true icon of all heart and all fight. Unlike the last elections here, there were so many “mangits” especially the biggest loser here in Baguio. Nagpasalamat nga pero nanisi pa at nag dahilan. Ayna apo Atty. Tarabitab anya ngay makunam? Hihihi...
