Cops recover P600-K drugs from ex-prison guard



AN EX-PRISON guard of the Davao Prison and Penal Farm, considered as a bigtime shabu courier, landed in jail after he was arrested by authorities on Monday evening during an entrapment operation at Purok 11, Barangay 31-D, Roxas Boulevard, Davao City.

Authorities likewise recovered about P600,000 worth of illegal drugs from his possession.

Police Regional Office (PRO 11) regional director Police Brigadier General Marcelo Morales identified the suspect as Emmanuel Maghanoy Lalican, Alias Emoc, 34, ex-prison guard 1 and renter at Purok 11, Brgy 31-D, Roxas Boulevard, Davao City.

The report said that at about 9:15 p.m. on July 22, the Drug Enforcement Team of Talomo Police Station conducted a buy-bust operation in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (Pdea 11) at Purok 11, Brgy 31-D, Roxas Blvd, Davao City which resulted in the apprehension of the suspects.

Recovered from the possession of the arrested drug personality were 32 sachets of suspected shabu, marked money, cellphones, one unit of weighing scale, one Bureau of Corrections Badge with badge number 227-2011, one ID Davao Prison and Penal Farm placed inside his one sling bag, one Hangten wallet color brown containing Bureau of Corrections ID, one TIN ID, and cash money amounting to P7,000.

"Suspect is considered as High-Value Target (HVT) and under PNP drug watchlist and his arrest is the result of the intensified campaign against illegal drugs," Morales said.

Meanwhile, Morales commended the operating troops for a job well done, adding that PRO 11 will pursue its mission in fighting criminality and illegal drugs and will do its best to maintain peace and order in the region.
