EDC’s Battle of the Brains returns to Negros Island

THE Positive Energy Battle of the Brains is coming back to Negros Island this August.

Last year’s competition saw Kabankalan’s Southland College clinch the championship title in the Grand Finals. Expect the Battle of the Brains to be just as exciting and educational this year.

With the theme “Renewable energy for a brighter future,” this quiz bee was designed to help the youth learn more about renewable energy, biodiversity, and the environment.

Now on its third year, the BOTB aims to share vital information on renewable energy among youth Negrenses.

Participants need to familiarize themselves with every aspect of the topic: the various forms of renewable energy, their impact on our lives, and their incredible benefits, including their crucial role in fighting climate change.

This year, the scope of the contest will cover several elimination rounds to be held throughout August in Bago City, Bacolod City, Kabankalan City, Dumaguete City, and Bais City.

Junior and senior high school students will compete to see who will be able to reach the prestigious Battle of the Brains Grand Finals that will be held in Dumaguete City in September.

The winners of the contest will receive cash prizes and bring prestige to their school.

The quiz bee aims to empower the youth of Negros, both the contestants and the audiences of the island-wide event, as they learn about the topics that it will cover. It is organized by geothermal leader Energy Development Corporation (EDC), with the assistance of Drink Editorial and Design.

"Through this quiz bee, we hope to inspire the Negrense youth to live more sustainably and to teach and influence others to do the same," said Norreen Bautista, head of EDC Community Partnership, External Relations, and Watershed Management Group in Negros Island.

"We hope that by studying the benefits of renewable energy, all participants will understand and also continue to spread awareness on its importance to the country and to their future,” she added.

Registration is open until today but EDC is considering an extension due to numerous requests from schools.
