Marañon vs Gamboa for PCL presidency

THE battle for the presidency of the Philippine Councilor’s League-Negros is now reported to be between the no. 1 councilors of two cities in the province.

This after a source revealed that no.1 councilor of Silay City Ryan Gamboa has been picked by Love-Negros to be their bet for PCL presidency while the United Negros Alliance has already confirmed that they are going to field Sagay City no.1 Arthur Marañon.

Gamboa is formerly a news anchor for ABS-CBN Bacolod and son of the late Vice Governor Roy Gamboa; while Marañon is the son of former Governor Alfredo Marañon, Jr.

According to Negros Occidental 6th district Congressman Genaro Alvarez, whoever wins in the election will represent the councilor’s league in the provincial board.

Alvarez also revealed that his grandson, Councilor Ralph Alvarez was first considered to be fielded by Love Negros, but he declined.

The congressman added the mayors under Love Negros were called to support Gamboa’s candidacy.

Gamboa, meanwhile, said in a text message he sent to the media, confirmed he is being considered but his party has yet to finalize the proposal. (TDE)
