Viray: Dumas Family: A formula for success

EDUCATION is the key to a better life. There are numerous success stories that would show that education lifted poor families to a better status. Spouses Fidel and Angelita Dumas used to be peddlers in the San Fernando Public Market. Through sheer hard work, they were able to rent a place to sell fruits. The store is located at a former glass store along the Poblacion where they sell bananas, mangoes, apples, ponkans, pomelos, water melons, pineapples, grapes, onions, garlic, guyabano, lanzones, rambutans and all fruits in season.

The father, Fidel, usually in shorts, is a familiar fixture in the farms on the look-out for fresh produce to be sold within the city. The partner, Angelita, supervises the store, waking up early hours every morning. What is admirable about this couple is how they raised their children.

The eldest son, Anden Dumas, graduated from Architecture in 2013. The second son, Adrian Dumas, is a computer technician and a Hotel and Restaurant Management graduate in 2016. The daughters are all achievers with flying colors:

Asherin Dumas graduated Magna Cum Laude in BS Biology in 2014 from Far Eastern University.

Aileen Dumas graduated Cum Laude in BS Medical Technology in 2015 from the same University.

In 2019, both Asherin and Aileen became Doctors of Medicine. In the same vein of excellence, the youngest daughter Andelyn Dumas finished Senior High School with honors this year, also from FEU.

Whereas, other families can only dream of careers for their children, the Dumas Family can proudly claim - "we have done it."

Doctora na, magaling pa!
