THE Provincial Veterinary Office (PVO) of Negros Occidental marked the Nutrition Month celebration through a milk feeding activity at La Granja Elementary School (LGES) in La Carlota City on Saturday, July 20.

The school is a neighboring community of the Provincial Livestock Breeding Center and Dairy Farm (PLBCDF) at Barangay La Granja, which is run by the provincial government.

The milk feeding activity benefited Grades 1 to 6 pupils of the school.

The farm personnel distributed 400 bottles of 330 milliliter fresh milk each of various flavors like chocolate, ube, buko pandan, strawberry, and mango.

Provincial veterinarian Renante Decena said the PVO has been advocating nutrition among public school children in the province.

Through one, he said, incorporating in its dairy project the advocacy of improving the health status of the pupils as well as that of the milk consuming public.

The PVO is also working on shifting the preference of Negrenses from other beverage to milk.

“We are introducing and patronizing the fresh milk produced by the provincial government through its dairy farm,” he added.

The PVO is also encouraging local government units (LGUs) to undertake a year-round milk feeding program to better the nutrition and health of their respective community. (EPN)
