Radioman arrested for illegal firearms

A MEDIA practitioner was arrested by authorities during the service of a search warrant on Wednesday in Mati City, Davao Oriental for illegal possession of firearms in violation of the Republic Act 10591.

Based on the report, the personality was identified as Ezperanzo Nishi Gochi Jr., 60, single, radio commentator of Sunrise FM. He was arrested at his residence in Purok Sawahon, Barangay Central, Mati City through search warrant Number 085-2019 signed by Presiding judge Emilio Dayanghirang III of the Regional Trial Court Branch 32, Lupon, Davao Oriental.

The operation was launched by the Philippine National Police (PNP) Composite Team during the service of the search warrant for violation of RA 10591. During the operation, the raiding team confiscated one unit of .45 caliber pistol, bearing serial number N2396216 Colt; one piece of a magazine of .45 caliber pistol; seven pieces of live ammunition of .45 caliber pistol and; one sling bag color brown.

Tagging, marking, and inventory of the seized items were held at the scene of the search that was witnessed by a media representative and Barangay Central tanod chief Greg Solibio of Mati City. The seized pieces of evidence were brought to the police station for proper disposition.

Meanwhile, a case for violation of RA 10591 or illegal possession of firearms will be filed against the arrested individual.

Police Regional Office-Davao regional director Police Brigadier General Marcelo Morales assured that they will continue running after illegal holders of firearms as he also lauded the operatives for the successful operation.
