CLARK FREEPORT -- AirAsia, in cooperation with Omni Aviation Corporation, has launched a cadet pilot training program.
Aspiring commercial pilots will be given the opportunity to study worry-free and without fees, as part of a new AirAsia Cadet Pilot Program launched in the country.
Inked between AirAsia and Omni Aviation Corporation, the program provides successful cadets with up to two years of technical and leadership training, with the aim of reaching the competencies required by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines.
AirAsia and Omni will also use the program to design and assess flight situations cadets might encounter upon graduation.
AirAsia Philippines president and CEO Captain Dexter Commendador said AirAsia has a proud history of having some of the best pilots in the Philippines.
Through this program, AirAsia will develop passionate "Allstars" and aspiring pilots, both men and women, into being the best, according Commendador.
"We’ve partnered with Omni Aviation, a leading Filipino training provider, to offer 10 cadetships in the initial batches and the opportunity to embark on a new career with the World’s Best Low-Cost Airline," he added.
Omni president and COO Steven Virata said he is proud to be partnering with AirAsia to make dreams come true.
"Allow me to assure all cadets that you will be trained in a holistic manner in this program, which emphasizes AirAsia’s culture of being competent pilots," he said.
AirAsia will cover the full training costs for Allstars (staff) and subsidies for non-employees who are accepted into the program. Upon completion, the cadets will reimburse any associated training costs.
Applications for the Allstars Cadet Pilot Program, including the application schedule and qualification requirements, will be announced soon.
