Quarry, trailer trucks banned from using Bacolor-Porac road

BACOLOR Mayor Eduardo Datu has totally banned quarry and trailer trucks from traversing the Bacolor-Porac road in order to preserve its condition.

Datu signed Executive Order (EO) 04, S-2019, which prohibits vehicles containing heavy materials such as sand from using the road, which stretches from Barangay San Antonio to Barangay Parulog in Bacolor.

The EO cited the complaints of residents along the road on the fast deterioration of the thoroughfare.

Datu also noted in his EO the threat on the safety of the residents, especially children going to and from schools, and the vibrating sound and dust brought about by quarry and trailer trucks.

He said the incessant use of quarry and trailer trucks has also caused the heavy deterioration of the Parulog Bridge, a vital access infrastructure of Bacolor town, and the lack of action may cause its total collapse.

“The whole stretch of Porac-Bacolor road is narrow and is suited for light to medium vehicles only, thus the total ban for heavy vehicles such as quarry and trailer trucks is only appropriate,” Datu said.

He urged quarry operators and drivers to use alternate routes, such as Barangay Concepcion going to the Jose Abad Santos Avenue via San Antonio-San Vicente road. Otherwise, affected drivers can develop a common route provided it will not cause inconvenience to residents, he added.

Datu warned operators and drivers who will not comply with the order that they will be sanctioned for defiance.

“Our goal here is to preserve infrastructures that are meant to provide convenience to and ensure the safety of the public, and not the other way around,” he said.
