FABulous People

ORGANIZATIONS indeed have a major role in nation and community building. In unison with our government’s mission and vision are members from the different sectors who in their capacity bring fruition for a better society.

The United Architects of the Philippines Baguio City Chapter’s goal is “to unite the registered and licensed architects and preserve, protect, and promote the profession, the professionals, and the professional organization”.

Moreover, the UAP Baguio, with its "millennial" roster of officers, continues its goal to create and develop innovative activities and programs, and hold active social involvement for the architectural profession.

Its chapter slogan is to “Unveil the Ambition to Progress through Bravery, Creativity, and Character”. Congratulations to the new set of officers UAP Baguio City Chapter. The 2019-2020 officers are Chapter President Shirley Damoco, Vice President for Programs Jonard Don Jardenil, Vice President for Operations Carizza Dale Dirige, Secretary Julie Ann Manabat, Treasurer Neil Cayanan, and Auditor Jefferson Ventura.

The board of directors are Christine Jann Que, Ariel Sualog, Mae Belle Tade, Oriel Baloran, and Charmaine Louise Yap. The Immediate Chapter President is ArvnLac-amen. The guest speaker of the night was Baguio City Councilor Vladimir Cayabas for Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong. In attendance were UAP National Officers VP Area A Ma. Cecilia Viray, Sec. Gen. Ronnie Yumang, and treasurer Wilfredo Gacutan.

Also present were UAP Area A Officers headed by its Director Eugenio Lumdang, Summer Capital CP John Glenn Abela, Cordillera CP Hazeline Tibangay, Ilocos Ciudad Fernandina CP Estrelita Ibera, La Union Agila CP Venus Soriano, and La Union CP Dwayne Japson.

The Philippine Academy of Family Physicians Baguio-Benguet Chapter, “A Family Physician for every Filipino Family”. Congratulatuions to the PAFP BB Chapter officers for 2019-2020 are President Nicolas Gordo Jr., Vice President William Occidental, Secretary Teresa Estera, Treasurer Divina Palaganas, PRO Joseph Alunes, Auditors Marilou Ganzon, and Annie Del Rosario.

The board of directors are Mary Apolinar, Marja Colyong, Haydee Danganan, Deneb Davalan, Faith Garcia, Gina Retuta, Endrik Sy, and Maria Ulep. The Immediate Past President was Sharon Cosalan (+). The ceremony was held last July 25 at Le Monet Hotel with inducting officer and guest of honor Maria Victoria Concepcion Cruz, Vice President, PAFP National in attendance.

Baguio’s Creative Sector. A follow-up planning session and workshop of the creatives was held last July 4 at Vincent’s Place. Organized by the City Government of Baguio, this was to finalize long-term plans for the City’s Creative sector for Baguio being designated as a UNESCO creative city.

Baguio Arts Creatives Collective Incorporated (BACCI) chaired by president Adelaida Lim and University of the Philippines chancellor Raymundo Rovillos headed the proponents. Also in attendance were City Councilors Mylene Yaranon and Vladimir Cayabas; focal persons Atty. Leticia Clemente and Engr. Evelyn Cayat; and DOT Cordillera OIC Jovy Ganongan, City Tourism officer Engr. Alec Mapalo and Margaret Ramos of DTI-CAR among others. Performing Artist Karlo Altomonte is the Creative Director of the 2nd Baguio Creative Festival.

Filipino-Japanese Foundation strengthens ties. The Filipino-Japanese Foundation of Northern Luzon Inc. headed by its Chairman Hon. Carlos B. Teraoka led the ceremonies to the Peace Memorial Floral Offering and Candlelight Ceremony held last July 21 at the Filipino-Japanese Garden.

In attendance was HE Koji Haneda, Ambassador of Japan to the Philippines and the members of the City government led by Hon. Benjamin B. Magalong. The day activities ended with a Renaissance Music Concert by Amakusa “Friends of Collegio” held at the St. Louis University CCA in celebration of the Filipino-Japanese ties. Renaissance musician and craftsman Hirayama Teruaki (playing the viola da gamba) were among those who headed the musical delegation.

The vision of the Baguio Museum is to preserve and conserve its artifacts and promote culture and heritage. The soft opening of the Cordillera Gallery and Commemorative rites were held at the Baguio Museum last July 19 with HE US Ambassador Sung Y. Kim and the US Embassy in Manila Cultural Affairs Officer Matt Keener and Florabel Aureaus.

The repair and rehabilitation of the museum facilities and capability training of museum personnel were also part of the long term program. The Baguio Museum Inc. is headed by president lawyer Fred Bagbagen supported by its board of trustees.
