THE Sisters of Mary School (SMS-Boystown) Aloysians asserted their mastery over the Tulay National High School, 62-44, to win the championship game in the 2019 Minglanilla Municipal Meet basketball competition on Saturday, July 27, 2019 at the Minglanilla Sports Complex.

The Aloysians controlled the game from the get-go en route to winning their second consecutive crown in the Municipal Meet.

With the win, the SMS-Boystown will get the chance to represent Minglanilla for the second straight year in the Cebu Provincial Meet later this year. The winner in the Provincial Meet will compete in the Central Visayas Regional Athletic Association.

SMS-Boystown also defeated the Tulay National High School in the championship game last year.

Van Halen Parmis, the SMS-Boystown athletic director, was nothing but proud of his wards who showed determination and heart not just in the actual competition but in all practice games.

“The boys played to their potential, and I’m happy that we have defended the crown. It shows that we are dedicated to our grassroots program,” said Parmis in Cebuano.

The SMS-Boystown grassroots program had humble beginnings in 2016. In more than two years, the school managed to make a complete turnaround of the sports program.

“This is because of the dedication of the kids. I can see that they’re all motivated and are looking forward to every game. Not just in basketball but also in the other sports programs,” he said. RSC
