THERE’S a rising tide of entrepreneurship sweeping across the Philippines, and the youngsters are riding it vigorously. A growing number of young Filipinos are not just content of waiting around for a proper career bump up. Our featured young entrepreneur’s ambitions are much more profound as he sets out to write his own destiny through an established enterprise.
Like most millennials, Nikki Joseph Marticion Chua considers himself as an entrepreneur who would like to think that working smarter and with much gusto and focus will take him far.
Chua, who hails from Davao City, is a 23-year-old graduate of La Salle St Benilde. Taking over a family business, he took an existing challenge presented by his family, pursuing it with much enthusiasm.
Chua is now the general manager of Golden Dynasty Motors Inc. (GDMI), a subsidiary company of Golden Mindanao Global Holdings, Inc. The company has been operating for three years and in that short span of time they had provided and continue to provide the Mindanao market with new heavy and light equipment or vehicles and support services including rescue services.
“We aspire to eventually become the leader in Mindanao. The market is huge and growing as we see it especially with the “Build Build Build” program of our government,” said Chua.
Being an entrepreneur is something that runs in his family. Both his parents Nelson Chua and CPA Jennifer Marticion Chua became his role models and inspiration in the entrepreneurial industry.
When asked what entrepreneurial or managerial hacks have he developed to stay focused and productive in his day-to-day business, he admits that he goes by “leading by example”. He believes that if he expects so much from his team, he makes sure he puts in more efforts unto himself first.
Admitting he is still in his road to making a difference and creating great things, he said he likes doing the challenges ahead that excites him all the more. For him, risk will always be there, but with risk comes rewards as well, if pursued well.
He added that the relationships he established amongst their network and clients carry them through the challenges they face daily.
In parting, this health buff enthusiast who regularly goes to the gym said he realized that when the market appreciates what is offered and begins to patronize your products and services, that’s only the start of a success of an entrepreneur.
