Labung assumes as president of board members league

PAMPANGA Third District Board Member Ferdinan P. Labung has assumed as national president of the Provincial Board Members League of the Philippines (PBMLP).

Labung is scheduled to take his oath of office before President Rodrigo Duterte in Malacañang next month. He was a senior board member of the province and is the longest serving board member for 15 years.

Labung also became the secretary general and executive vice president before assuming the PBMLP presidency for two consecutive years.

SunStar sources revealed that Labung is being supported and endorsed by the league's regional chairmen.

Board Member Jun Canlas, a former director of the PBMLP, said the province is proud to have a leader in the person of Labung who has brought honor and prestige to his Kabalens.

Mayor Eduardo Datu described Labung as a "kind hearted leader who is always willing to help in any way he can."

In 2013 and 2016, Labung was supposed to run for president but he gave way to his colleagues, he later assumed the position as the league's interim president.

Labung also set aside his intention of running for vice governor of Pampanga after then Governor Lilia Pineda ran for vice governor of the province.

He also gave way to Third District Representative Aurelio Gonzales, who sought reelection under the same party Kambilan, which Labung is also a member.

Labung is serving his last term as board member of the province's third district. He is planning to seek a national position after his term in 2022.
