EIGHT hundred eight out of the 1,066 total number of barangays in Cebu province have been initially declared by the Cebu Police Provincial Office (CPPO) as drug-affected villages.
But Police Master Sergeant Fortunato Batucan Jr. of the CPPO Public Community Relations said this record has yet to be validated and confirmed by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.
Out of the 808 drug-affected barangays, seven are considered seriously affected, 425 as moderate, and 376 as slightly affected. There are also 19 unaffected barangays.
“Unaffected means there’s no identified presence of drug users nor pushers in the area but was not yet declared as drug free,” Batucan Jr. said.
Two hundred thirty-nine villages were initially declared as drug-free barangays in the province. (SunStar Cebu)
