2 nabbed, P340,000 shabu seized in anti-drug haul

AGENTS of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) backed by police and soldiers arrested two people and seized some P340,000 worth of suspected “shabu” in an anti-drug operation around 11 a.m. Monday, July 29, in Bongao town, Tawi-Tawi.

Lawyer Jacqueline De Guzman, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) regional director, identified the arrested suspects as Nur-In Awang Tayong, 34 and Musa Awang Tayong, 43.

De Guzman said the suspects were arrested after they sold a sachet of believed to be shabu or methamphetamine hydrochloride in exchange for P500 to an undercover agent at Sitio Kasulutan in Simandagit village.

She said seized from the suspects some 50 grams of suspected shabu worth P340,000 packed in six heat-sealed plastic sachets and six plastic straw.

Also seized from them were assorted illegal drug paraphernalia, P500 marked money and P400 cash in different denominations, De Guzman said.

She added that cases for violation of Section 5 in relation to 26, Section 11 and Section 12 of Article II of Republic Act 9165 are set to be filed against the suspects, who were detained. (SunStar Philippines)
