Complaint board rescues 4 minors

THE Regulatory and Complaint Board (RCB) has rescued four minors who were found inside a drinking establishment on Lirio Street, Barangay Carmen, Cagayan de Oro City.

The RCB said it acted upon a complaint that there were minors inside the establishment.

But Antonio Resma of RCB clarified that the minors were not drinking at the time of the rescue.

Notice of inspection findings were issued and the business establishments are reminded of the Cagayan de Oro City Comprehensive Children's Welfare Code, prohibiting minors to go inside bars, clubs, cafes, and other establishments selling liquor.

Resma said minors are likewise prohibited from buying and consuming any alcohol and other intoxicating drinks.

On July 13, a minor was also rescued in a drinking establishment in Corrales Extension.

President Rodrigo Duterte, in his 4th State of the Nation Address (Sona), asked Congress to pass a measure imposing a midnight liquor ban.

"I was just suggesting. I'd like to -- Congress to ponder on it and maybe sleep on it and if they want. But it can improve tremendously the quality of life. Stop drinking at almost 11, then you go home," Duterte told reporters in an interview after the Sona.

He also floated the idea of banning karaoke and videoke by 8 p.m. or 9 p.m.
