2 men arrested for robbing trike driver

TWO suspected hold-uppers who victimized a tricycle driver were arrested by Tacloban City police Tuesday, July 30, 2019.

Police identified the suspects as Lester Caceres, 21, and Bryan Agustin, 28, both construction workers.

Caceres and Agustin reportedly robbed Domingo Ursabbia Jr., 36, around 1 a.m. of July 30 at Magsaysay Boulevard, Tacloban City.

The police said the victim was driving his passenger tricycle along Basper Road when the suspects contracted him for a ride going to Magsaysay Boulevard. One of the suspects rode at the back of the driver side while the other boarded on the passenger side.

Upon arrival at Magsaysay Boulevard, the suspect who was seated at the back of the driver poked a bladed weapon on Ursabbia's back and declared a hold-up.

The victim was quick to parry the bladed weapon and was able to ran and shout for help to the security guard on duty of the Bulwagan ng Katarungan. The suspects fled, police said.

Police then conducted a follow-up operation along Magsaysay Boulevard and chanced upon the suspects who were casually walking in front of the University of the Philippines Visayas Tacloban College.

The two suspects were then arrested by the responding officers.

A case is now being prepared for filing in court against Caceres and Agustin. (SunStar Philippines)
