ZAMBOANGA City, through the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), was conferred the best highly urbanized city (HUC) in DRRM category during the 21st Gawad Kalasag Search for the regional level.
Dr. Elmeir Jade Apolinario, CDRRMO chief, said they have accumulated an average score of 94.85 percent.
With this, Apolinario said the CDRRMO is qualified to compete in the national level competing with other HUCs in the country.
Apolinario said they received the award during the awarding ceremony held Monday, July 29, at the Chandlier Suites in Pagadian City.
The Gawad Kasalag (Kalamidad at Sakuna Labanan, Sariling Galing ang Kaligtasan) is the country’s premier annual awards for outstanding contribution in the fields of disaster risk reduction and management and humanitarian assistance.
It was originated in 1998 by National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council formerly known as National Disaster Coordinating Council. (SunStar Philippines)
