DSWD to release assistance for quake victims in Pampanga

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) started payouts for the beneficiaries of the Emergency Shelter Assistance (ESA) in Pampanga, Wednesday, July 31.

ESA is a program that focuses on early recovery and rehabilitation of disaster victims and survivors. It provides financial assistance to the affected families whose houses were damaged by natural or man-made disasters.

DSWD-Central Luzon will lead the conduct pay-out of ESA from July 31 to August 2, 2019. This will include beneficiaries from Sasmuan (July 31); Bacolor, Guagua, Santa Rita, and City of San Fernando (July 31); Floridablanca (August 1); and Porac (August 1 and 2).

On April 22, a 6.1-magnitude earthquake jolted Central Luzon. DSWD immediately responded and provided relief assistance. The department also deployed staff to validate the reports of damaged houses.

There were a total of 3,135 validated damaged houses in the three provinces in Central Luzon: 2,230 damaged and 905 destroyed.

Pay-out for ESA beneficiaries in Bataan and Zambales has yet to be scheduled in August.

ESA has two categories: 1.) Families with destroyed houses will receive P30,000 plus 10 days built-in Cash for Work (CFW); and 2.) Families with damaged houses will receive P10,000 plus five days built-in CFW.

For Central Luzon, the rate of CFW is P300 per day.
