THE other suspect of a stabbing incident on Saturday, January 19, is now behind bars after he surrendered to authorities on Sunday, January 20.

The suspect, identified as ester Pepito Turco, 18, a resident of Tierra Nueva, surrendered to the Tugbok Police Station.

According to Tugbok Police Station's progress report, Turco was identified by witnesses Christopher Durato and Leopoldo Elviña as among persons who stabbed to death Jaime Diza Oliva, 30, also a resident of Tierra Nueva.

Initial investigation showed that Oliva was buying a cigarette from a store when he was confronted by a certain Ponciano Protacio Turco, 64, a carpenter. Ponciano then held the victim and ordered Pepito to stab the victim.

The victim sustained stab wounds on his left shoulder, upper left arm, and left armpit.

The suspects then ran off toward a subdivision in Tacunan, bringing with them the knife used to stab Oliva.

Oliva was rushed to Holy Spirit Hospital in Barangay Mintal but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.

Elviña, who is also a purok leader, requested assistance from Tacunan barangay captain Arnold Asube to go after Protacio and Pepito. However, they were only able to arrest Protacio, who was turned over to authorities.

Meanwhile, officers of the Tugbok Police Station are searching for the weapon used in the crime.

The station is also preparing a case against Protacio and Pepito Turco.
