MANUEL Nierra II, who topped the six-game eliminations, kept his momentum in the step-the-ladder finals to annex the Datba July 2019 Monthly Finals tournament title at SM Lanang Premier Bowling Center in Davao City recently.
He toppled Arthur John Galendez, 251-159, in their championship match to go home with a cash prize of P10, 000 while Galendez settled for the P4, 000 runner-up prize.
Nierra II, with a handicap of 24, hit a total of 1,255 pinfalls to grab the twice-to-beat advantage in the step-the-ladder finals. Rod Tongo placed second with 1,235 while Joshua Disuacido finished third by rolling 1,170 pins. Galendez was fourth after he struck for 1,161 pinfalls.
No. 4 Galendez, meanwhile, defeated No. 3 Disuacido, 203-190, to set up a meeting with No. 2 Tongo whom he beat, 200-181. Thus, Galendez arranged a titular showdown with Nierra II.
Tongo received the third place prize of P2,000 while Disuacido claimed P1,000. The finalists also got trophies for their feats in the Davao Tenpin Bowlers Association (Datba)-organized event.
Nierra II, too, won the top qualifier and the highest qualifying single titles while Disuacido romped away with the highest finals single crown.
