Davao City traffic office collected P33.8M fines

THE Davao City Transport and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO) collected P33.8 million from traffic law violators and other services in the city from January to June in 2019.

Speaking during the Armed Forces of the Philippines-Philippine National Police (AFP-PNP) press forum Wednesday, July 31, 2019, at The Royal Mandaya Hotel, CTTMO head Dionisio Abude said this year, they apprehended a total of 40,819 drivers for violation of City Ordinance 0334-12, Republic Act 4136, and Executive Ordinance 39 Speed Limit with a total collection of P33, 855,866.82 with “No Safety Helmet” topping the list, collecting P3, 014,707 from erring drivers.

Aside from this, CTTMO likewise collected service income fines and penalties for distractive driving, non-wearing of seatbelt, non-appearance, truck ban violation, non-registration of vehicle, franchise non-renewal fee.

They have also collected from other service income like towing fee, jaywalking, hitching/outside line/top-loading, obstruction, illegal parking, driving without a license, disposition of proceeds of an impounded vehicle, and traffic fees.

“This is only nakita nato sa Davao since nag start ta og implement sa citation ticket in 2017 of September. Kaya nagpursige tayo na mag benchmarking sa Cebu so nag-start tayo in 2017 (We implemented the citation ticket in September 2017 after benchmarking in Cebu),” Abude said Wednesday.

He added that for jaywalking, violators pay a fine of P100, truck ban (P1,000), reckless driving (P1,500), illegal parking (P500), non-wearing of seatbelt (200), disregarding traffic signs (P500), among others.

“Nidagahan ang deputized nga mag-issue og citation ticket, halos tanan police stations sa Davao City is naga-signify nga mutabang sila pag-issue that is why nag-conduct ta og training mao siguro nga medyo nidoble gyud tungod sa PNP nga deputized nato sa opisina (Aside from that, there are also additional deputized police who are now issuing citation tickets),” he added.

The total collection for the first half of the year also include the exemption permit fee – truck ban, Franchise Provision Authority, registration fees for the filing fee of motorized tricycle operator's Permit (MTOP) per unit, motorized tricycle-for-hire, registration fee of bicycle, registration plates, tags and stickers fee for CTTMO-issued driver’s identification card.
