Cebu suffers second straight loss after losing to Makati in MPBL
The Cebu Sharks suffered their second straight defeat after losing to the Makati Super Crunch, 73-67, in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) Lakan Cup last July 31 at the Muntinlupa Sports Complex.
Even without its star, Patrick Cabahug, the Sharks gave Makati a good fight and even cut down an 11-point lead within the last two minutes.
Will McAloney trimmed the lead to just two, 63-61, with a layup with 1:55 left in regulation.
However, Jeckster Apinan stopped the bleeding with a three-point play and Joseph Sedurifa scored seven points to hold on to the victory.
Apinan led Makati with 21 points, seven rebounds and two steals; while Sedurifa logged 11 markers, nine rebounds, three assists and a steal.
Rhaffy Octobre had 16 points, 11 rebounds and four assists; while McAloney scored 16 markers, grabbed seven boards and had two blocks. Makati improved to 5-1, while Cebu dropped to 3-5. (EKA)
