THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) in Bacolod City will conduct satellite voter registrations for six Saturdays from August 17 to September 21 in six big barangays in Bacolod City.

City Election Registrar Mavil Majarucon-Sia said the voter registration already resumed Thursday, August 1, for the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections in 2020.

She added that part of their schedule was to conduct a satellite registration in selected barangays every Saturday only. She said they will be in the barangays on the following dates:

August 17, 2019 - Barangay Granada Covered Court (to cater residents from Barangay Granada and Barangay Alangilan)

August 24, 2019 - Barangay Estafania

August 31, 2019 - Barangay Mansilingan

September 7, 2019 - Barangay Handumanan

September 14, 2019 - Barangay Vista Alegre

September 21, 2019 - in Barangay Taculing

Majarucon-Sia said they will also hold a special satellite registration at the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) on August 21 to cater to the policemen who failed to cast their votes in previous elections because of their duties.

Comelec will also hold a special satellite registration at the Department of Education (DepEd) Social Hall on August 26, 2019 to reactivate the records of teachers.

On September 4, they will be at the University of St. La Salle to cater to students because of the SK election.

On September 11, Comelec will be at the Bacolod City National High School Gymnasium.

On September 18, 2019, they will cater the persons with disability (PWD) and senior citizens at the Annex Building in the Bacolod Government Center.

Majarucon-Sia said that during the satellite and special registrations in said areas, the Comelec office will be closed.

She said the Comelec office is open from Mondays to Saturday, including holidays, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and that voter registration will end on September 30.

She added they can only accommodate 250 registrants daily because of the limited capacity of the machines.

Majarucon-Sia said registrants should bring their valid government identification cards (ID) with picture and signature, as well as an original and photocopy of their birth certificate.

If their residence is not stated on the ID, they should bring a proof of their residence or billing statements, like water bills or electric bills.
