Boats collide in Boracay; 16 Chinese tourists hurt

SIXTEEN Chinese tourists were injured in a collision of two sea vessels in Malay, Aklan.

Philippine National Police (PNP) spokesperson Brigadier General Bernard Banac said the incident happened at 2:55 p.m. Thursday, August 1, when FB Jin Ju, a service boat, and MBCA LMJ, which was carrying the victims, collided off Malay, Aklan.

Elements of the Philippine Coast Guard rushed to the collision site and rescued the 16 Chinese tourists who were then floating at sea after their boat capsized.

The Chinese tourists were brought to Ciriaco S. Tirol hospital for immediate care and attention as they sustained minor injuries after the incident.

The two captains of the involved boat were brought to Coast Guard headquarters for investigation and proper disposition. (SunStar Philippines)
