CITY OF SAN FERNANDO - The Department of Labor and Employment in Central Luzon (Dole)-Central Luzon has distributed 50 livelihood food carts to beneficiaries from Arayat town.

Through its Kabuhayan Program, the food carts were awarded by the DOLE Pampanga Field Office on July 29 at the Arayat Municipal Hall to beneficiaries who underwent Entrepreneurship Development Training (EDT) to ensure the proper management of their livelihood projects.

Arlene Tolentino, head of the Dole Pampanga Field Office, reported to labor regional director Zenaida Angara-Campita that the given livelihood carts were worth P1 million.

“We always tell our beneficiaries that our livelihood flagship program is meant for less privileged individuals that we know will be putting it to good use. Through the years, individual projects such as the Nego-Kart or Negosyo sa Kariton have produced empowered entrepreneurs and capable businessmen and women,” Tolentino said.

During the awarding of the food carts, beneficiaries thanked the Labor office for its commitment to provide employment opportunities. Most of the beneficiaries were ambulant vendors selling food products like popcorn, buko juice, banana cue and turon.

Nestor Pangilinan, one of the vendor-beneficiaries, said he expects his income to be augmented by the Dole’s livelihood grant.

According to Department Order No. 173 s. 2017, Dole Integrated Livelihood Program or Kabuhayan Program is the agency’s contribution to the governments’ agenda of inclusive growth through massive job generation and substantial poverty reduction. (Charlene Cayabyab)
