2 Koreans nabbed for illegal drugs

TWO Korean nationals, considered as high-value targets, were arrested by Davao City Police Office (DCPO) personnel Thursday evening, August 1, in Tugbok District, Davao City.

Based on a report provided by DCPO Director Alexander Tagum, he said that around 6 p.m. Thursday, August 1, a joint drug bust was conducted against two Koreans identified as Minsoo Park, 43, and Keven Lee, 37.

Park and Lee are transient residents of Block 24, Lot 21, JGN Street, Bambu Estate Subdivision, Barangay Sto. Niño in Tugbok District, Davao City.

The operation was launched by Tugbok Police Station personnel, led by station commander Police Major Ricky Abrigo Obenza, along with the National Bureau of Investigation-Davao, led by Regional Director Jonathan Balite, and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Davao, led by Assistant Regional Director Behn Joseph Tesiorna.

Tagum said both suspects were listed as the station's high-value targets.

Confiscated from the suspects were two sachets of shabu worth P15,000 and other drug paraphernalia.

The operatives also seized a unit of Mazda white with plate number LAC 7037, and a P1,000 bill as buy-bust money.

The arrested suspects and recovered drug paraphernalia were placed in the custody of PDEA for proper disposition.

Cases for violation of Section 26 in relation to Section 5 and 12 of the Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act will be filed against the suspects.

Tagum refused to reveal whether there are still foreign drug suspects living in the city.

Based on their recent data, the DCPO reported a total of 1,708 personalities who were nabbed in the city for being involved in illegal drug activities since the re-launch of the second wave of “Oplan Double Barrel: Reloaded” in December 2017 until July 2019.
