DENR-Central Luzon hosts environment symposium for students

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in Central Luzon here recently conducted an Environmental Symposium for 846 students in Colegio De Sta. Monica de Angat in Bulacan.

This is part of the DENR’s continuing commitment of cleaning up the Manila Bay.

During the Symposium, officers from the DENR discussed various topics, including Youth Environmentalism, Ecological Solid Waste Management and Upcycling through eco-bricking.

According to DENR Public Affairs Chief Donaver Guevarra, "It is vital that we instill a love for the environment in our youth. Their impact on our society and their role as nation-builders are even more apparent given today's world where every teenager has a global platform in social media."

Guevarra also enjoined other schools and youth organizations to get in touch with the DENR for assistance in facilitating other such activities and lectures. "As a matter of fact, just last month we conducted lectures in 21 elementary and high schools in Tarlac", Guevarra reported, "we are more than happy to accommodate other organizations who wish to be a part of the movement to save and preserve our planet."
