Tips for flower girl’s parents

YANNA’S first ever flower girl experience was memorable. It was something that we never expect a one-year-old girl could do. I thought she would just throw her tantrums and ask me to carry her, considering that she was wearing a gown which the Bridal PhDy customized for her. But, it was the other way around.

When the wedding coordinator (Monna Fe Quibuen of Master Piece and Events Coordination and Jazz Labita Madroñal and his team) signaled us to start walking, I demonstrated how to pick some petals from the basket and throw them on the floor. I did it twice so she could observe well.

So when I told her to do the same, she actually did a great job! I could see her determination from how she gathered petals in her hand and scatter them along the bridal path. Everybody was obviously impressed and happy!

Her mood changed when she noticed that there were only few petals left. She looked back, thinking she could pick up those and put them back in the basket. I talked to her and explained “No more petals. The man told me that we need to take our seats now.” She followed.

I am glad that Yanna is good at listening and following instructions. She is also observant and attentive. I did not have a hard time while we were walking down the aisle. I hope she maintains that kind of attitude everytime she gets a role as a flower girl.

To all mommies and daddies reading this, it might help you against being so stressful during the ceremony. Yanna had some rehearsals few hours before the wedding but she was not paying attention to us. I think it also helps to be patient and calm when she starts walking. Of course, they need our assistance because you can never know what a toddler can do. It would also help to keep the basket away from her face so the official photographer can take better photos of our daughter (or else it’s going to cover her face like what I unconsciously did.)

By the way, best wishes to Kuya Ron and Nikki!
