Police underscore media, public support vs crime

THE Police Regional Office in Eastern Visayas has underscored the support of media and other stakeholders on its law enforcement and fight against criminality.

“Since time immemorial, well-founded partnership between the Philippine National Police (PNP), the media and other stakeholders have proven its indispensable relevance to the overall success and realization of the objectives of law enforcement,” said Lieutenant Colonel Ma. Bella Rentuaya, PNP regional spokesperson.

“The media serves as the ultimate avenue of police community relations through public information containing the most reliable facts necessary to be made known to the general public. Stakeholders, on the other note, played as an integral support system of the PNP for so many years. They advocate unfaltering assistance and support in bringing the vision of the PNP to reality,” she added.

According to Rentuaya, they owed a lot to their stakeholders, who are instrumental in the realization of their various projects in the region.

“These people and institutions deserve, not only to be recognized but to be genuinely appreciated and applauded for bringing the police closer to the community,” said Rentuaya.

Earlier, Brigadier General Dionardo Carlos, police regional director, led in acknowledging the contributions of the civilian stakeholders for their “tireless efforts in helping us maintain, develop and enhance quality service for the people” during this year's culmination of the Police Community Relations Month.

The stakeholders were Jinuard Asis, president, JCI Candahug; Jerick Silva, president, Access-5 Tacloban; Ronald Madera, board of director, Radnet 5; Dr. Mecheil Macaso, principal, Sta. Cruz Elementary School; Cristina Gallano, principal, Lorenzo Daa Memorial School; Arnold Balasabas, teacher, Lorenzo Daa Memorial School; Annaliza Del Valle, principal, Lukay Elementary School; Glenda Saac, principal, Tagpuro Elementary School; and Raul Tiozon and Sol Alarcon, Philippine Information Agency, to name a few.

For media stakeholders, the police awarded certificates of appreciation to Matronillo Manaog, Lenny Ann Estopin, and Gideon Melgar, Bombo Radyo Philippines; Jake Tatoy and Justine Grace Traya, RMN Tacloban; Archyl Egano, Untv; Wilmark Amazona, CNN Philippines; Joey Gabieta, Philippine Daily Inquirer; Marie Tonette Grace Marticio and Restituto Cayubit, Manila Bulletin; Ronald Reyes, SunStar Philippines; Dalmacio Grafil, publisher and chairman of Regional Advisor Council 8; Alma Grafil and June Penalosa, Leyte Samar Daily Express; Evelyn Bacol, Nelson Braga, and Matthew Manuel, ATV-24; and Don Leandrew Tiu, PRTV-12, among others.
