Albindo faces crucial test

IT’S win or go home for Cebuano warrior Allan Albindo as he’s at the brink of being cut in Rich Franklin’s ONE Warrior Series (OWS).

The 22-year-old Albindo faces off with Malaysian Arif Izzudin on Aug. 6, 2019 in Singapore.

“This is a make or break fight for me. I learned a lot from my last fight and I hope I can finally get the win this time. I didn’t stop training after my fight with Rane. I am very determined coming to this fight.”

Albindo made his debut in the OWS last June 20 in Singapore and lost by unanimous decision against Indian Manthan Rane.

After his loss, Albindo immediately went back to the gym, with his eyes fixed on the $100,000 ONE Championship contract.

“I am positive with his chance because he had a longer preparation this time,” said Yaw-Yan Ardigma Cebu head Master Benigno “Ekin” Caniga Jr.

Albindo is one of the Filipino fighters who earned an invite to the reality MMA show by MMA legend Rich Franklin himself.

Like Albindo, Izzudin is also new to the pro MMA game. He trains at one of the top gyms in Malaysia - Equinox MMA.

The OWS event is headlined by Team Lakay’s Lito Adiwang (8-2) facing off with Vietnamese Anthony Do (7-3). Three other Pinoys are fighting in the undercard--Ismael Bandiwan, Jenelyn Olsim and Dave Bangguigui. (EKA)
