FOR the second time, Malaysia’s biggest book sale Big Bad Wolf is coming to Cebu for 11 days of book shopping at the IEC Convention Center.

Open to the public 24 hours from Aug. 16 to 26, 2019, the Big Bad Wolf is back with over a million book titles for sale at 50 to 90 percent discounts. A VIP event is slated on Aug. 15, where over 4,000 passes will be up for grabs on its Facebook and Instagram pages in the days leading up to the event.

Big Bad Wolf Books founder Jacqueline Ng said they were inspired to come back to Cebu because of the warm welcome they experienced during their first visit in July 2018.

Ng said Cebu was one of the cities that showed such “big love” for books. About 200,000 people visited the book sale in Cebu last year.

“Our first trip to Cebu last year was a big success as we had over 200,000 visitors flocking through the book sale, choosing their gem and since then we’ve heard many requests from readers over the past year to bring back the sale here. We’re more than glad and excited to return to Cebu, and creating this platform to inspire people and empower them with knowledge,” said Ng.

Ng hopes the book sale will encourage more people to read.

“Books not only give new and fresh perspectives; they are also great source of knowledge and wisdom. One book can make all the difference in one’s life and the world and we are aiming to change the world, one book at a time,” she said.

Besides the over one million brand-new English titles, the book sale will also roll out books with augmented reality technology called Magical Book that encourages the children to interact, read, play and learn using cutting-edge technology.

In 2018, the Big Bad Wolf visited 16 cities in seven countries.

This year, the book sale ventured into three new countries, namely Myanmar, Pakistan and South Korea. (KOC)
