Marijuana seized inside bus, restaurant

AUTHORITIES confiscated P8.4 million worth of marijuana bricks in Benguet and Mountain Province over the weekend.

Combined elements of Benguet Provincial Police Office arrested on August 3 a drug courier and a minor onboard a passenger bus in a check point in Km. 13, Acop Caponga, Tublay

Police confiscated 35 kilos of marijuana bricks with a total Dangerous Drug Board value of P4.2 million from Aldren Bombio Rabutan, 20, single, student and resident of Tondo Metro Manila and his minor companion.

According to a report, at 1:40 p.m., combined police, intelligence and anti-drug agents conducted a checkpoint along Acop, Caponga, Tublay, Benguet and flagged down a bus coming from Bontoc, Mt. Province.

The checkpoint resulted to the confiscation of two travellers backpack containing 35 pieces of marijuana bricks weighing 35 kilos.

The suspects will be facing charges for violation of Section 5 of Republic Act 9165 or the Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Initial investigation showed the bricks were from Buscalan, Kalinga and intended to be brought to Manila.

On August 2, some P4.2 million worth of marijuana bricks weighing 35 kilos packed in three travelling bags were recovered by anti-narcotics operatives inside a restaurant in Poblacion, Bontoc, Mt. Province.

PDEA-Mt. Province said the owner of the establishment were suspicious of the bags that were left unattended. The owner reported this to the nearest police station.

Authorities are still investigating the owner of the bags.

In a separate anti-drug operation, PDEA-Ifugao Provincial office, PDEA 2, Santiago City Police Station and PDEU Ifugao arrested Albert Chilion in a buy bust operation at Calaocan, Santiago City, Isabela on August 2.

Chilion, a high value target was arrested for selling one gram of shabu worth P6,800 to authorities and is now facing cases for violation of Section 5 and 11, Article II of RA 9165.
