Ceneco notes increase in power rate

THE Central Negros Electric Cooperative (Ceneco), catering to the largest number of electric consumers in the province, has noted an increase of P0.29 per kilowatt hour (kWh) in its power rate last month.

Ceneco, covering the cities of Bacolod, Bago, Talisay and Silay, and towns of Murcia and Salvador Benedicto, reported that its July power rate is P11.0103 per kWh.

It is higher than P10.7198 per kWh in June, the power distribution utility in an advisory said.

Jose Taniongon, officer-in-charge general manager of Ceneco, said rate increase is attributed to the pass-through charges.

Taniongon said these included the generation and transmission charges, approved adjustments of the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC), government subsidies and taxes totaled to P9.8237 per kWh of the bill.

The remaining P1.1866.per kWh accounts for the cooperative's Distribution, Supply, Metering (DSM) and Reinvestment Fund for Sustainable Capital Expenditures (RFSC) for its administrative and operational services.

Ceneco's DSM and RFSC rate has not increased since 2010, he added.
