Filinvest to remove posts at IL Corso within 60 days

FILINVEST Land Inc. (FLI) will comply with the 60-day timeline the Cebu City Government has given the developer to remove the eight posts at its IL Corso Mall at the South Road Properties.

The posts were intended for the construction of a footbridge that would connect the mall across the residential communities within the 40-hectare City Di Mare township project, a joint-venture project of FLI and the City.

“We will try our best to remove the eight columns in IL Corso at the soonest and comply with the City’s 60-day timeline,” said Joy Polloso, senior vice president for Festival Supermall Inc.

FLI initially asked for 100 days, but the City Legal Office under Rey Gealon could only give the developer 60 days. Gealon said he was following Mayor Edgardo Labella’s order.

“While FLI has requested a 100-day extension for demolition work of the eight columns protruding (from) their commercial building, which encroached on the sidewalk at the SRP coastal road, we can only grant a 60-day period within which to comply with the law,” Gealon said. “The violation of the eight-meter setback required under the National Building Code is so blatant that it is a continuing sore to the eye of passersby,” he added.

Polloso said it would be helpful if the City would allow FLI to immediately proceed with the demolition while waiting for the approved demolition permit, which the City required from the developer.

She said that once they get the go signal, FLI will begin with the removal and “appurtenances civil works” to support the adjustments.

FLI assured the City Government and the public that it would comply with the order. (from PAC of Superbalita Cebu/PJB)
