Congressional bet warns public vs solicitations

LAWYER James Enriquez, the Nationalist People's Coalition (NPC) first congressional district aspirant, has warned the public against solicitation activities by individuals on his behalf.

Enriquez issued the warning following the arrest Tuesday of a 27-year-old man who was caught soliciting cash from individuals using his name.

The suspect allegedly collected P50 cash each from 23 people with a promise that they will be given insurance, jacket, and cap and to become campaign volunteers of Jimenez.

Enriquez said he did not authorize anyone to solicit cash donations on his behalf.

The modus operandi of the suspect has reached the attention of Enriquez and of the police after one of the 23 people he victimized filed a complaint before the Police Station 7 in the village of Sta. Maria, three kilometers north of this city.

The responding policemen arrested the suspect in Sitio Luyahan in the village of Pasonanca, seven kilometers north of this ciy.

Chief Inspector Felixberto Martinez, Police Station 7 chief, said appropriate charges will be filed against the suspect, whose identity was temporarily withheld.

Enriquez has cautioned the public against giving cash donations on his or of his party mates citing they have not authorized anyone to solicit donations.
