Labor department helps Bulacan workers get P4.3M back pay

THE Department of Labor and Employment (Dole) in Central Luzon has assisted distressed Bulacan employees to get P4.3 million worth of claims from their employers.

Through its Single Entry Approach (SEnA) program, Dole Bulacan Field Office head May Lynn Gozun reported to Dole Regional Director Zenaida Angara-Campita the successful settlement of four requests for assistance (RFA).

A big chunk of the P4.3-million settlement was from the RFA filed by RNR Business and Industrial Management Inc., a service provider of Rombe Philippines through the labor agency's intervention.

One hundred seventy-nine of its workers received their separation pay worth P3,501,115.85.

Another settlement of P187,937 was received by Ereneo Marcos, a former employee of LG Global Express Corporation. Marcos was involved in a work-related accident earlier this year.

Other settlements made by the Dole Bulacan Field Office were three Tomtowers Corp. laid-off workers who received P117,311.49, as well as five right Zoom Marketing employees who received P527,491.

"With Sena, workers and employers need not go to the long and costly process of filing a formal full blown case. The department has offered a way to speed up resolution of labor disputes that is accessible, cost-effective, and time-saving," Gozun said.

To request for assistance, Bulacan residents may visit Dole Bulacan’s new office at 158-C Rosario St., Guinhawa, Malolos.
