Call center agent, 4 others nabbed in drug bust

POLICE arrested five men, including a call center agent, in a drug bust in Sitio Tambis, Barangay Pooc, Talisay City on Wednesday morning, August 7, 2019.

Operatives of the Cebu Provincial Intelligence Branch (PIB) led by Police Lieutenant Colonel Marlu Conag arrested a certain Martin Canales, who was the subject of the drug bust and is known as a high-value target.

Also arrested were call center agent Jayson Cañizares, Rodel Restauro, Rosval Restauro, and Welbert Abasial.

The three yielded one large, two medium, and 27 small sachets of sustance believed to be shabu with a total market value worth P232,628.

In a separate interview, Cañizares admitted he receives a percentage of Cañales' drug sales when he sells shabu to his colleagues in a call center at the Asiatown IT Park in Barangay Lahug, Cebu City.

Cañizares, a single parent, said he entered the illegal drug trade to earn extra money for his 10-year-old child.

They will face charges for violation of Sections 5 and 11 of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
