Cordillera fighters show way in OWS 7

CORDILLERA fighters showed grit and toughness as they overcome their foes in Rich Franklin’s ONE Warrior Series (OWS) in Singapore August 6.

Lito Adiwang earned his third straight victory in the series while Ismael Bandiwan and Dave Bangguigiu pulled of contrasting victories in their hunt for a US $100,000 contract to compete on The Home Of Martial Arts’ main roster.

Adiwang impressed the judges after scoring a unanimous win against grappling specialist Anthony Do in the main event of their strawweight contest as the Team Lakay fighter improved his record to nine wins and two losses while handing Do his third loss in 10 contests.

The highly touted Do trains out of American Kickboxing Academy in California, USA – home to multiple mixed martial arts World Champions.

In his October 2018 OWS debut, Adiwang stunned Jose Huerta via knock out in the first round then followed it up with another knock out win against Alber Correia in the first round on February 28 earlier this year.

Bandiwan of Tribal Submission meanwhile had to grind it out for three rounds but later on scored a third round knock- out midway in the final round as he stopped Adib Sulaiman in their strawweight contest.

The 24-year-old Bandiwan bounced back after back to back defeats in July and October in 2018 and improved his record to 5 - 2.

Bangguigui meanwhile improved his record to 6 - 1 earning back to back victories in OWS after stopping Alber Correia Da Silva in the second round.

The Fight Corp MMA enlist proved too much for the Brazillian as Bangguigui dominated the opening round with his overhand right hand that floored Correia.

But the Brazillian had his moments in the fight, however, it was Bangguigui who emerged victorious after submitting Correia in the second round.

Jenelyn Olsim, the lone lady Cordilleran n the bout however was unlucky after she succumbed to Australia’s Caitlin Mcewen with an armbar in the first minute of the bout.
